    Description

Struck at KOMSCO, the official mint of South Korea, this is the third release in the Chiwoo series & has a limited mintage of 45,000 pieces. The obverse shows the legendary shield of Chiwoo Cheonwang positioned above latent security feature and the KOMSCO logo, surrounded by date, fineness, denomination and Republic of Korea.
The reverse depicts Chiwoo Cheonwang on horseback in battle garb, pressing the attack at close quarters with his fearsome sword
To most Americans of European descent, the name Chiwoo may have little meaning. But to Chinese and Korean citizens it holds a significance comparable to Achilles or Hercules in the Western world.
Chiwoo was a tribal leader of the Nine Li tribe in ancient China. He is best known for his leadership in battles against the man who would become the Yellow Emperor during what is known as the legendary Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors era of Chinese history. Chiwoo is also recognized as the 14th head of Shinshi, the first Korean state. Also worshipped as the God of War, Chiwoo’s story tells of many exploits that can only be described as mythological. It is said during his epic battles against the Yellow Emperor's forces, he breathed out a thick fog to obscure the sunlight and conjured storms
