Cherry Amber Bakelite Bead Necklace, Vintage Beads, Probably Restrung

This lovely necklace features faceted cherry amber Bakelite beads of graduating size. The color reads as dark in my photos, but the red glows beautifully in the light. The Bakelite beads are vintage, but I believe they have been restrung with the grooved round goldtone beads. Typically, a cherry amber necklace would not have metal spacers as used on this piece, and the arrangement of the beads in front seems to me particularly not of the Bakelite era. Probably someone wanted to add length to their necklace so they added the metal beads. The necklace is about 23 3/4" long, about 4" of which is taken up by the metal beads. By comparison, most cherry amber necklaces you find tend to be 18" or shorter. It's an incredibly pretty piece, strung on red string with a vintage brass barrel clasp.
Condition is excellent with no major issues to note. The barrel clasp is secure. The stringing is secure/stable with some visible string at the end. In time it may require stringing again, due to the heaviness of the beads. To preserve the piece, you will want to store it laying flat and not hanging.
